I don't know what wing you are referring to BUT on my 93SE a too thick of a grease will sieze the gear. Been there done that. I used a sewing machine oil on the gear and dri slide on the cable.

The entire back portion of the front of my fender did the same thing. I bought a piece of abs pipe and made a piece to fit it. I used abs cement to attach it. It worked like a champ.
