    well thats reassuring at least :-) Im gonna give the tank a pressure lean out tomorrow then throw some hydrochloric acid mix in the tank..slosh it round a bit. ive read that the screens in the tank arent really neccesary?     pics are probably a little misleading...the stuff coming out was like someone had thrown a handful of dirt in the tank but not so much rust. The sender unit had a thick film over it which I was able to scratch/scrape off

    Nah tank is pretty good...just dried up fuel and the additives left behind I think..tank seem pretty solid...wont know til I give it a good going over I guess. Its not rust thats falling out...just crap

    Hey..im only new to the forum..but ive had an old gl1000 many many moons ago....and here are my thoughts...if you have to ask the question...then yes..change the belts...if at all in doubt of wear or age..change the belts...Not a big job to do for peace of mind..
