  1. Officially old enough to own a wing

    New Members Introduction Forum
Welcome to the site What part of mn are you at?
  2. How many miles will a Wing run?

    Goldwing Technical Forum
That's 26,800 miles a year, 90 a day, 560 a week or so..uhmmm The potential problem with this math is if this was Wausau, WI (ok I didn't read the whole story) you would need to take out at least 3 months per year for winter. Unless he's smart enough to ride south to see something and make a...
  3. Sidecar or trike - why?

    Trikes, Trailers and Sidecars
Sidecar, because a trike looks like you are getting old and can't keep a motorcycle up on your own. A side car looks like you are just making accommodations for someone else.
  4. Place to stay near Ashland WI

    Miscellaneous Forum
Hi all, I am looking for a place to stay in or near Ashland Wi on October 13th. I am hoping to run the Whilstle Stop 1/2 marathon. Any suggestions would be appreciated. The motels seem to be full already unless I am missing something. Thanks, Bob
  5. Another "Help Me Decide Which to Buy" Thread

    General Motorcycle Discussion Forum
I would agree with the others and stay away from #3. The low miles is great, but age is more important than miles and certainly doesn't justify the added cost. It sounds like #1 is better mechanically and has the trailer hitch you're going to want but not the display you want. I would suggest...
  6. Hey from Minnesota

    New Members Introduction Forum
Good to see another Minnesota rider. I was in Lakeville the other day, looking for the BuckBoard. When I finally found it, it was closed and my wife and I needed to find someplace else for lunch. Is your 78 naked or have you put the bags and fairing on it? I started with the 1000 and now 3...
  7. your mileage this year.

    General Motorcycle Discussion Forum
I'm at about 3000 for the year and have avaraged about 16,000 per year the last few.
  8. Advice on Lake Superior Ride

    General Motorcycle Discussion Forum
Camping spots aren't usually a problem except on weekends. I really prefer waking up and seeing trees vs a parking lot. I think there is a state park just south of the tunnel of trees
  9. Hey From St. Paul, MN

    New Members Introduction Forum
Hi Chris, Welcome to the site, lots of good information here, about more than just bikes. What part of St. Paul do you live? I'm in Frogtown.
  10. What octane gas do you run on?

    General Motorcycle Discussion Forum
The only ethanol free gas I can get is expensive and 91 octane. I tried a few tanks, didn't notice an improvement in mpg or performance so went back to less expensive 87 octane and 10% ethanol. Seems to run good.
  11. Advice on Lake Superior Ride

    General Motorcycle Discussion Forum
Here are a couple pictures from the raft. This water is probably 30 feet deep and yes, those are fish in the one picture. These pictures weren't taken with a fancy camera, just an ipad.
  12. Advice on Lake Superior Ride

    General Motorcycle Discussion Forum
Just so your expectations aren't too high, don't envision white water rafting, more like a barge on a cable that gets you out to the middle of the lake and back, probably about 30 feet, I'll try figuring out how to post pictures
  13. Advice on Lake Superior Ride

    General Motorcycle Discussion Forum
I have done the circle around Lake Superior twice and look forward to do it again. I have done the tunnel of trees and would like to do that again. I enjoyed the trip up the west coast of Michigan and thought the UP was beautiful. Growing up in northern MN I have been up the north shore...
  14. When will they learn...

    General Motorcycle Discussion Forum
But I have to believe it will hurt a lot less at 55 - 65 than at 120+. You may still be hurt badly or killed but at least you could have some reaction time to avoid the crash. There is no reaction time available at 120 to avoid a grain truck doing 65. I feel so sorry for the family and...
  15. When will they learn...

    General Motorcycle Discussion Forum
There was a motorcyclist killed on the freeway here yesterday afternoon. This is in Minnesota and as anyone living in a northern state knows, Spring roads are not good roads. However, going 120 mph and colliding with a grain hauler didn't help. A 36 year-old local guy, I just don't get it...
  16. Keeping it clean

    General Motorcycle Discussion Forum
Year round riding, what a concept, wish I could do that.
  17. Keeping it clean

    General Motorcycle Discussion Forum
I'm not very good at washing the bike, i'd rather spend the time riding. I am trying to get better at it though because it does look prettier when it's clean.
  18. What did you do to your Wing today?

    General Motorcycle Discussion Forum
Got to go for a ride. I don't think I've ever gone for a ride in February before. I don't know if Global warming is real, but I do know it was almost 60 in St. Paul MN in Feb. That does not happen every year. Bob
  19. What did you do to your Wing today?

    General Motorcycle Discussion Forum
The bike show was in town last weekend and I bought myself a new helmet. Didn't have it on-site so it had to ship. Got it Wednesday. Now I just need to wait patiently ...... for a couple months before I can ride.
  20. Ride the Ozarks

    Miscellaneous Forum
I fully believe that you can fill a day by just riding. The others I will be traveling with have this tendency to want to stop and hike or go through free museums and stuff like that. I can't believe we're related....
