  1. Interesting Bike Builds

    General Motorcycle Discussion Forum
Looks like an 1100, better have a "Poorboy" on that PLUS the built-in stator... šŸ¤£
  2. Proper way to tie down a Goldwing

    General Motorcycle Discussion Forum
Looks a little slack, need to hook up a come-a-long.
  3. 1200 86 sei crash no start.. where to begin?

    Goldwing Technical Forum
SEi.... Guess I need to read more closely, I stand corrected...... It was a thought anyway.
  4. 1200 86 sei crash no start.. where to begin?

    Goldwing Technical Forum
Try pulling the plugs, if the bike laid on its side a while you may have dumped a carb's fuel into a cylinder and be hydrolocked.
  5. 84' GL1200 engine rebuild

    Goldwing Technical Forum
A "Ring and Pinion" arrangement, just like an automotive drive axle except there's no differential and the Ring gear drives the rear wheel directly.
  6. Internet ISP speed throttling

    Computer Talk
21/18 is not too shabby for a cell tower tether setup, for many uses (besides 4k streaming) would be more than sufficient, though I bet your daytime speeds are nowhere near that. I'd be happy with my speeds except the 6Mb upload tends to strangle things when I'm working remote from the office...
  7. Internet ISP speed throttling

    Computer Talk
Yucky. Comcast isn't a whole lot better in the upload dept, although I usually get 175Mb download (only 110 this morning, cable must be congested) but upload is capped at 6Mb. CenturyLink has been stringing Gigabit Fiber around my neighborhood though, but it is still dark. They expect to put...
  8. Looking for the page that had a history of the Goldwing

    Community Help
Tried the "Wayback Machine" internet archive. Found this: https://web.archive.org/web/20181215223445/https://www.goldwingfacts.com/goldwinghistory.htm So it's not lost.... Saunder's history is still available in all its glory.....
  9. Generator stuff

    Miscellaneous Forum
Extended outages are rare here in the City, my little 1000 watt gen will run some lights and entertainment though. The back room "Den" has it's own heat separate from the rest of the house, a thermocouple-style wall mounter space heater, doesn't use external electricity, so the back room will...

    Miscellaneous Forum
I see on the news it is passing thru Colorado and Denver this week.
  13. It's Early

    Miscellaneous Forum
Today-Tomorrow are both supposed to be 55-65 degrees, good weather for getting the boxes of Christmas lights out of the attic and get the front yard all litted up (around 3000 lights), probably several hours with ohm meter finding and replacing bad bulbs again. Three 75' stings of 300 lights...

I see improvement in the avatar photos, instead of a little round dot they are a slightly bigger square. But photos are still cut off. There should be room to make the avatars bigger still (200x200px) like they were, don't know how it looks on a phone, though. Also still missing: the "check...

    Miscellaneous Forum
Very cool. I saw a diesel-electric locomotive in that train, too. I suppose they have to hot up the diesel when they can't get coal somewhere....
  16. How to change antifreeze in 2006 goldwing

    Goldwing Technical Forum
Could just pull the drain plug and drain the old coolant out, then you could dispense with the space heater. What little coolant left in the engine after draining won't hurt anything, even if it freezes. Just don't forget to refill with coolant when it warms back up...
  17. output on GL1500 Versus GL1800 alternators?

    Goldwing Technical Forum
Another consideration manufacturers use for sizing an alternator is output at idle RPM. An alternator can only output a small fraction of its "rated" output at idle speed, They size the alternator so that at idle RPMs the alternator will still output enough current to run the bike's electrical...

If you are in the Fun forum and the "Follow" button shows "Unfollow", that means you are following it. Click "Unfollow" then it will show "Follow". If it's giving you the option to "Follow", that means you currently aren't.

Go to the "new" screen and in the upper left select "Filters". If you click on the first two check boxes (unread, followed) and save as default then hit the filter button, Fun forum is gone, unless you are "following" it.

Well I got the "New Posts" feature to work good, but I had to go to each forum and mark ALL posts as "read" first. Evidently it thought Every post was "new". +1 on the "fast", and I also like how the full screen photos display. So here's some good comments to go with my earlier not-so-good...
