Will look into both those items when I get the garage cleaned out. No space there to do anything related to maintenance. Thanks for the reply

Guys, I already know all this. Whenever I start this bike its always for an extended period of time to get the engine warmed up. If anyone read the earlier posts knows the hesitation is now gone. It is running rich due to a vacuum leak somewhere. A local neighbor mechanic gave me good advice on...

John Yes, I know. Nothing at all. Its brand new. The bike has not been touched other than to start it periodically to let it run in the garage. Started up about a month ago prior to the last cold snap here. Today....nada.

Been awhile, I kind of left this thread hanging. I have had too many things to repair since I last posted. Yesterday was just now getting back around to Ol Blue. In fact just put the charger back on the battery yesterday to return to sleuthing out the vacuum leaks. This afternoon I just went to...

Finally got to replace the fuel pump on Ol' Blue a week ago and just now put three gallons of gas in. Cranked a bit but Ol'Blue is running. It was the fuel pump all along. Now since the weather temps are milder will be more inclined to go searching for the vacuum leak.

I just rebuilt the carbs on this bike. There is a sticky at the top of this forum regarding my experience. The fuel line is not pinched. The fuel pump simply stopped pumping. What I think happened after the carb rebuild, I discovered the fuel was so low there was no fuel for the pump to pickup...

Pulled the fuel pump this evening. It sounds like a kid with playing cards in the spokes of a bicycle. It made quite a clatter. I have a couple of spares that I thought were suspect and powered one them off 12volt too, just a nice little hum. Also the fuel line from the pump to the bottom of the...

Yes, the bike ran for a couple of months. Trying to determine source a vacuum leak. I just rode it work but once. Back to when this started......I started it up backed it out of the garage and it was starving for fuel as I backed it out. The pump was not running when I turned it off then tried...

I did this cranking as well so any vacuum should have allowed gas to pass thru to carbs. Usually this bike was running with bearly a hit to the starter when gas was available. Good idea the petcock. I will just put a different hose on the outlet where the hose connects to the top of the tank. I...

Going to change the pump out. Its not activating even with 12v attached. It never pumped enough to get gas to the carbs to start like earlier last week. I just checked the fuel filter...after running the pump prior to it stopping there is not a drop of gas in it. And the tank is over 1/2 full of gas

Carbs are empty, pump will not run at all now connected to 12v. It ran a bit then stopped while cranking and connected to the battery. The pump does not sound like what I have heard in the past. As for jumpering the killswitch I guess I never saw that post. Remember I am an illiterate when it...

Redwing: Yes I jumped the B and G wires to the appropriate battery posts. The pump powered up. Did not attempt start as I know it runs when the carbs get gas. When I keyed the ignition on and heard no pump a couple of weeks ago I toggled the killswitch on and off momentarily and the pump came...

Bypassed the cb connection. It did nothing. Going to pop the fuel pump out this evening after work. check the connections at the pump. Try direct connection there.

I will give the bypass connection a try. When it pump works the bike runs. Its just not pumping gas.

In the attached pic the black wire with blue strip you see that comes from the harness thru the connector to the "capacitor" black box with the four short lead wires out to the top of the fuel pump top place (cover) that is the one that has power for the pump to pressurize the pump when turning...

DBohrer: The blue wire described is actually black with blue strip at the fuel pump connection on top of tank. Yes, there is voltage there a couple of volts less as the battery is not charged.

Pulled the seat off this afternoon. The black with blue strip wire on the upstream side of the cb capacitor seems to be getting voltage when you turn the key on. The downstream side at the pump is too. This might be a bad brand new pump or a bad connection at the pump inside the tank. I may have...

Pure Texas Refer to sticky labelled Gl1500 carb rebuild at top of this forum. That was a thread I started back in march when I rebuilt the carbs. I rode around a couple of years with the auto petcock bypassed. Do so at your own risk. I completely agree with it being a problem. If you have...
