  1. Goldwingdocs.com site?

    General Motorcycle Discussion Forum
Hi guys, Yes, we had a major hardware failure at about 11 pm on Saturday night. I had been planning for some time to move the site off that server, where it has been living for the past 5 1/2 years, so it's a bit old in computer terms. We lose hard drives all the time, as they wear out, but we...

imported post John Goodell wrote: Well being that I had asked the OWNER of this forum long ago if he had a problem with it BEFORE I did it, and being that he said he didn't, I figured that I would go by his wishes. This is the last post I will make on this topic.
  3. Convert your 1500 Side box marker lights to LED

    Reference and FAQ Forum
imported post It's interesting...that Rudy's original post, he simply says "hope it helps someone" and posts a link to the procedure ON HIS OWN SITE: Everyone praises him and tells him what a great thing it is. Yet when I do the EXACT SAME THING, on the EXACT SAME TOPIC, in the SAME THREAD, I...

imported post What a friendly response to what I intended to be a simple post to help someone out who was looking to do the same thing to their bike. I didn't hijack a thread, I added what I thought was valuable information, ON TOPIC of the original thread. Hijacking a thread is when someone...

    Reference and FAQ Forum
imported post I had read Rudy's process some time ago, and planned to do the same thing for my 1500. I went about it a little differently, using waterproof adhesive LED strips, which makes the process much easier and faster, I think. I'm quite pleased with the end result, so much so that I'm...
  7. Gl1800 timing chain cover

    Goldwing Technical Forum
imported post oops...you're totally right, for whatever reason I read "GL1500" rather than "GL1800". I suppose I shouldn't be posting this early in the morning when my eyes are still a bit bleary...

  9. Gl1800 timing chain cover

    Goldwing Technical Forum
imported post First off, it's two belts, not a chain. You can remove and repaint it if you like. There is a rubber gasket behind it to keep the belts clean and dry. There should be no oil or grease of any kind behind it, if there is, there's a problem.

imported post busdriver wrote: Technically, yes. Whether or not you would have interference between the two devices when they were connected together (ground loop noise, etc.) I don't know, and I wouldn't be able to predict that. As long as the two devices play nice with each other, you...

    Goldwing Technical Forum
imported post I just sliced into the wires leading to the LEDs themselves, put the resistors in place, and heat-shrink-tubed it back together. I like your idea about the diffuser - I've got hot spots on my gauges right now for exactly that reason. I had meant to fix it before putting it all...

  14. 91 Aspencade instrument cluster LED upgrade.

    Goldwing Technical Forum
imported post I won't bore you by going into the technical details of why it's happening, but I did mine as well, and solved the problem by putting resistors in parallel with the LEDs. On the two cruise lights, I used 1K, 1/4 watt resistors. For the low fuel light, I used a 470 ohm, 1/2 watt...

I don't use my welder all that often, so I just went and bought about 50 feet of 8/3 outdoor wire (looks like a thick, orange extension cord), put a standard NEMA dryer plug on one end, and a...
