  1. Posting for a friend, his bike Wooden Start

    General Motorcycle Discussion Forum
I was going to say he might not have a good ground.... but I guess the tree didn’t have good roots
  2. Can anyone identify these saddlebags?

    General Motorcycle Discussion Forum
I’m not too sure about them being Bates bags. I had the large bag on my CB750K2 till I sold it and my ex-wife had the ‘baby bags’ on her CB550K till we divorced. Neither resemble the bags pictured
  3. Can fuel go into crankcase?

    Goldwing Technical Forum
It’s been awhile since this post was asking ‘how can gas get into the crankcase’. I didn’t see any reference to the 88 recall that specifically says that “pinched vent hoses can cause fuel leakage into the crankcase” Having an ‘88 I’m very aware of this wording.
  4. 1985 Aspcade.GL1200 rpm do not when shifting

    Goldwing Technical Forum
Just a hint: I can't tell you how many times I've seen the glue hang up between the throttle pipe and the handlebars. When someone would come into my shop I could immediately tell there was a problem. It's common but you said your throttle snapped back ok. I assume you knew how it was...
  5. 1985 Aspcade.GL1200 rpm do not when shifting

    Goldwing Technical Forum
Have you checked for vacuum leaks? A common leak area for 1200’s are the orings at the intake manifold where it bolts to the head.

Have you adjusted the free play in your throttle? It should have at least 1/8” but not more than 3/16” free play with the handlebars straight ahead. Rotate the bars from lock to lock checking that there is some free play at all positions.
  7. Can fuel go into crankcase?

    Goldwing Technical Forum
Personally I think Wing man is a little thin skinned.
  8. Cracked Frame Dilemma GL1800

    Goldwing Technical Forum
Just as late note. You know how Honda feels about trailers? They think they are the devil incarnate. I’d suggest removing any trailer hitch and wiring prior to taking the bike to the dealer. Not that we’re trying to be dishonest...but just hedging our bet!
  9. Cracked Frame Dilemma GL1800

    Goldwing Technical Forum
Being that it’s on 01 you might at least try for warranty repair. When I left the dealership level in 07 Honda was very specific about the frame recall. Since then more 1800’s have had more cracked frames in various locations. Traditional cracking around the upper shock area is associated with...

So someone just deleted their PM’s to me? Ok then. Thanks Ray

Today I logged in and noticed that 3 personal messages had disappeared. I can’t say which ones but 3 are missing-gone. Is there a time limit?
  12. Misfiring in the rain

    Goldwing Technical Forum
By the way... Ontario Moto Raceway (correct spelling) is now a parking lot. So sad!
  13. Misfiring in the rain

    Goldwing Technical Forum
Back in 1977 I was part of the pit crew at the Onterio Moto Raceway 6hr Endurance. My rider was on his highly modified KZ900. It was a ‘heavy must to light rain’ all day. Everything was going good then about 20 laps into the race the rider pits. Says the engine is missing. A minutes of fiddling...

  15. Bike running very rough

    Goldwing Technical Forum
For future reference you should use regular gas but it’ll be ok for one tankful. But you should switch to 87 octane. As of now it sounds like you have to get that stale gas out of the carbs and hope the additive cleans out the slow speed jets. There the tiny jets and easiest to get plugged
  16. Vin number sale question

    Miscellaneous Forum
My thoughts were that it would be good for a child to sit in it and sort of pedal with their feet.
  17. Vin number sale question

    Miscellaneous Forum
I appreciate the thought but since this is a giveaway I’m not too keen on spending money for a notary. Maybe just grind off the vin?
  18. Vin number sale question

    Miscellaneous Forum
Howdy I have a question about giving away a rolling frame to a Z-50. I got 2 of them years ago. One had a tweaked frame, the other had a seized engine. So I took 2 to make one good bike. My sons road it for awhile and then I sold the good cycle. Now we are getting rid of stuff and the old frame...
  19. ‘88 GL1500 plus trailer

    For Sale/Wanted Forum
I’ve still got my Wing and really need to sell it so here goes: $3000 for the bike only or Best Offer. Don’t be afraid to make an offer.... I don’t bite LOL. Plus the trailer separately for $750. By them together for $3200. Tires are both new on the trailer and the wheel bearings were replaced.
  20. What size Dingleberry Hone?

    Goldwing Technical Forum
It really depends what you want to achieve with the hone. For a light scuff the dingle ball hone will work fine. If you want to remove material a multi stone hone is better. There are two basic types of stone hones: one is the precision hone like a Sunnen hone. I’ve got several ranging from...
