If you do make it to the Great Lakes and in particular to Michigan, add the Gilmore Car Museum to your plan. It's about a dozen miles north of Kalamazoo and has the finest collection of antique vehicles anywhere, including motorcycles. They hold an annual motorcycle show in June if you really...

    New Members Introduction Forum
Congrats Jeffery! The ‘82 is a great bike, pulls my sidecar rig like a freight train! A couple things to look at. Under the left side cover, there is a wire connector slightly forward of the battery. Three yellow wires in, three yellow out. If that connector is scorched or melted, plan to...

  5. Bike runs on two cylinders after warmup

    Goldwing Technical Forum
I was thinking that too Erdeniz, but why only two cylinders? J Clark didn't mention which two cylinders drop out, but I'd bet that they share the same coil and PG. When it comes to heat-related failures, PGs and coils are the usual suspects.

  9. Ok to tip over bike to clean?

    General Motorcycle Discussion Forum
I used to do that all the time with my Schwinn Stingray. Never had a problem. With a motor bike, however, I think I wouldn't tip 'er more then 90* Something a lot of folks do when changing the back tire.

Greetingz K! If you like to wrench on your own bike, don’t overlook the 4-bangers (1000, 1100 & 1200). Not so much plastic to dig thru and still fairly good parts availability. If you have a pet you want to bring along, add a sidecar!

  14. Left Heated Grip Coming On HOT!

    Goldwing Technical Forum
Dave has a good point, Since both grips work off the single switch, a bad switch would affect both grips. That being said, does the RIGHT grip get hot when you turn the switch on? If so, then that's further evidence of a wire fault on the left grip.
  15. Left Heated Grip Coming On HOT!

    Goldwing Technical Forum
Or maybe a bad switch. OldRider, does the switch click from one position to the next (multi-contacts) or does slide smooth giving you infinite settings between off and max (rheostat)?

Lemon Pledge works quite well, be it a plexi windshield or painted panels. On plexi, it will look streaky at first, but just keep polishing, it'll clear up. Good for removing light road dirt and bugs, but if you ride through dusty areas, it worth your time to wash the road dust off first then...

Greetingz EZ! Plan to put on new belts unless you know they are new with low miles. Radiator hoses are easy & cheap to replace right now. Thermostat and radiator cap are also cheap & easy (what’s a few more gaskets?) Source your head gaskets from Mother Honda only! Gates or NAPA belts and...
