  1. Not getting the readings I saw on YouTube

    Goldwing Technical Forum
Well that as far as Goldwing's are concerned, and 2 million sq/ft Houston skyscraper maintenance manager. Let's pass this $#!t on. people need to know! Word to admin. Why is there no facility to edit posts with this new format?
  2. Not getting the readings I saw on YouTube

    Goldwing Technical Forum
(y)That would be me! Backyard mechanic describes me perfectly. :)
  3. Not getting the readings I saw on YouTube

    Goldwing Technical Forum
About 50 or so, might have been nearer 60, on a standard OEM alternator, which I don't use anymore, now I'm all Randakk upgrade. But my whole point is, this is a much easier test, especially for those with limited electrical knowledge who get confused with all the A-B, B-C & A-C Voltage stuff...
  4. New Addition

    Guns & Ammo
Cool, I recently got me a Sig P365, amazing capacity for it's size and the world will never run out of 9mm parabellum ammo. Good choice.
  5. Not getting the readings I saw on YouTube

    Goldwing Technical Forum
Here I go again! This is likely to be the 6th time I've described this extremely easy way of testing early Goldwing 3 phase alternators on here only to be totally ignored. And it is so simple and foolproof. Get a regular everyday clamp meter and set it on AC amps, start and warm-up the bike so...
  6. gl1500 carb vacuum slides??

    Goldwing Technical Forum
Are you guys really telling me that the 1500/6 only has 2 carburetors? Well $#!T! That's why I've avoided them for the whole part of my life that they've been around! 4 carbs with continual problems was enough for me to go SCC, 6 would have driven me crazy. Really???????:|:surprise::frown2:
  7. Can I use One Vacuum Gauge to sync my carbs?

    Goldwing Technical Forum
Syncing with one gauge is not something I'd rely on if I had 4 carbs, but each to his own! I've got a 4 gauge set somewhere that I don't use anymore if you want it. Free. Shipping will apply of course. But seeing as they all come from China, chances are it's cheaper, (given where you're at,)...
  8. 5 year old "New" Timing Belts For GL1500

    Goldwing Technical Forum
I'm kind've differing from most here, now I'm as cheap as they come, in fact, if you look up the word cheap in the dictionary you'll find a picture of me in color, right next to my old friend Bob. But $#!t man, $35.00, when you know what you have to lose, that's nuts!! Rubber has a shelf life...
  9. Exhausted

    Goldwing Technical Forum
I get where you're coming from but don't you think you ought to be just shopping around for a standard exhaust system? I bought a Hardly Dangerous a year or so back and it had pipes that only advertised to the neighborhood how small my penis is. I changed them out for a regular standard set...
  10. Stator cap stuck!

    Goldwing Technical Forum
I've rounded off the nut in the past, try using a 6 point wrench on it. you can get some purchase on it from underneath too, or just try tapping it around with a sharp drift. Not genuine parts, but you can get a new cap with an O ring on eBay for $5.99, free shipping.
  11. Build your own Stator Regulator

    Goldwing Technical Forum
    Thanks Dave.
  12. Build your own Stator Regulator

    Goldwing Technical Forum
Shame that! I was looking for something that would take what my new Randakk upgraded alternator could dish out. It has so much more pick-up surface than the original, I'm a little concerned that the OEM rectifier/regulator won't. Should I be? Anyone know? Edit: Okay I just seen pictures from...
  13. Electric gremlins be nagging me.

    Goldwing Technical Forum
Roll the fuses around in their clamps, if that doesn't work check the ignition wires in the connector/holder behind the steering weight.
  14. desiccant

    Goldwing Technical Forum
The desiccant in my '82 pump is always white, as humid as it gets around here, it's white 5 minutes after you turn it blue. Still works good though. Oh and by the way! If you're an Engineer, which is my cross to bear. The glass is always twice as big as it needs to be!! :grin3:
  15. A clever idea

    Goldwing Technical Forum
Washington state? or Washington DC? Whichever, we all need to move there! Apart from the cold of course, in both.
  16. Connecting Honda air compressor to Harley shocks

    Goldwing Technical Forum
I don't have a 98 1500. But.... I do have a 82 GW mongrel with an on-board suspension compressor and a 2002 Road king with air shocks. The adjustment range on the 2 bikes is totally different. for instance, adding a 150lb passenger to the GW takes about a 10psi increase, the HD, 1psi. According...
  17. "the Hunley", or pidjones needed a project

    Goldwing Technical Forum
I've only ever seen petrified wood in photos or man made walls, never in its natural state. But how does it always seem to have those dead straight cuts in it, almost like a chainsaw did it?
  18. GL1100A Suspension options

    Goldwing Technical Forum
I use a Weber 32/32 DFT, I'm told it's also a knock off, but for $95 who's complaining? I use the slimmer 3/4" air filter so that the compressor tubes don't interfere. The only problem I had with room under there was when I swapped out the fuse box for an auto fuse box. And there's a fix for...
