  1. Life changes

    Miscellaneous Forum
From experiencing this in my family, enjoy the time you have left, get all her friends and relatives to come and visit her even for just a few minutes. She will enjoy seeing people even if she grouses about it. When the cart starts down the last hill it won't take long. Best wishes and...
  2. Color matters

    Miscellaneous Forum
I find it amusing that on my black on black on black 1800 with my black helmet and black and gray mesh jacket I am seen by everyone and they think I'm a cop and even slow down and get ut of my way. I've even had MC cops saluting me, that never happened on my old green bike.
  3. HID Lights

    Goldwing Technical Forum
In HID's the lower the number the brighter the light. That tends to confuse some people. 6000 is SUPPOSED to be pure white, lower than that contains yellow, higher contains blue.

The regulations between Canada and the U.S. are different in a lot of ways. There are/were Canada issue motorcycles that are illegal to title/plate in the States until they are 20 years old and considered antique/collector items. In the States the on road legality of HID's is cut and dry. If...
  5. Which hand grips..

    General Motorcycle Discussion Forum
The key is to get bigger grips (more circumference) so your hand is in a more natural, relaxed state. Squishy foam grips won't help, you end up gripping tighter to actually feel the same.
  6. Which hand grips..

    General Motorcycle Discussion Forum
Pain and numbness? Or just pain? On a previous bike I was getting pain and numbness, right hand more so. I went with Oury's, they are an oversize grip that got their start in dirtbikes I believe. I'm sorta anti-chrome so most of the ISO grips I see for the Wing are out of the question for me...
  7. Darksiding 1800

    Goldwing Technical Forum
Okay gentleman, I understand this is an old thread. I also understand this is a volatile subject akin to an oil debate. I have some very specific questions because to me the answers I have seen in this thread are a tad vague to me. I have a 2014 GL1800, the rear tire is a Bridgestone...
  8. Some Days, You Just Can't Win

    Miscellaneous Forum
Had an Uncle who had those bushes with 2" long thorns on them, he used the "Spray Foam in a Can" technique and filled all his mower tires with the stuff. Still got punctures, but nothing leaked out.
  9. Why so long to get parts?

    Feedback for Hondas Goldwing Team
I do not know how true this is, but I was told about 6 years ago that there are only two warehouse locations in the states for any Japanese bike part. North Carolina has 1, and then California has a handful. All of the intermediate warehouses that were sprinkled though the midwest were shut...
  10. Hid light glair

    General Motorcycle Discussion Forum
Okay BIGDOG, if you don't want to listen to everyone telling you to remove and toss the couple of hundred dollars you just spent, then here goes. What you should have done before you switched over was designate a spot in your driveway about 25 feet from garage door, turned on stock headlights...
  11. Wife, girlfriend, S.O., whatever help

    Fun Forum
Except for the Garmin the bike is as she was purchased new from the dealer.
  12. Wife, girlfriend, S.O., whatever help

    Fun Forum
Thank you. She won't be changing much other than creature comforts. My last ride I had almost as much in aftermarket as she cost me new.
  13. Wife, girlfriend, S.O., whatever help

First one, not so much. Second one you hit it on the head
  14. Wife, girlfriend, S.O., whatever help

    Fun Forum
Yes, black on black is a stock '14 color. I've only had her a month, we're still doing the getting to know you dance and acting like newlyweds. I traded an '02 ZRX 1200R in on her, so this style of riding is still different to me. But I do find it amazing how easy it is to throw her into...
  15. GL1500 25-30 MPG order to tackle stuff?

    Goldwing Technical Forum
With the tear down you'll have done for all the suggestions, while you're in there check the synch on the carbs. I can tell you that just one carb out of synch on a 1200 in line four cylinder will drop fuel mileage by as much as 25%. That is one issue I'm glad I don't have to mess with any...

Nope, that came factory on mine.
  17. Navigation add on

    Goldwing Technical Forum
Simple and easy and cheap. Buy whatever GPS unit floats your boat. Me it is a Garmin Zumo 660 which is motorcycle specific, water resistant (I don't believe anything is water proof) comes with both a car cradle and a bike cradle, each cradle has its own power cord. I bought a Ram base mount...
  18. Full page ads

    General Motorcycle Discussion Forum
Could be a couple of reasons you're getting full page ads. Depending on what the ads are, if they're related to motorcycles or this site then it would be a user setting. If they are something completely unrelated to motorcycles you could have a virus that is tied to a certain group of...

Oh I'm no stranger to throwing money at a bike.......
  20. New trailer needs help

    Trikes, Trailers and Sidecars
If you haven't already fixed the shocks for the lid, a cheaper alternative would be the universal ones sold at most auto parts stores. You can purchase mounting brackets for them there also.
