01 wing right handlebar cruise switch wires melted. i replaced the switch pod and replaced the 30 amp fuse with the correct 10 amp fuse. has been blowing alt. fuse about once a month for some time but only on trips w/cruise on. looked at my shop manual wiring diagram.cruise gets power from alt. fuse. did wiggle test and visual inspect . Jesus, what a wiring system for a bike! i'm good at this on cars but no one to go to on a Wing. Also i cant find radio light bulbs for radio.

I am working on a netbook with no CD drive while my computer gets fixed so I can't be much help right now. Does it blow the fuse only when the cruise is set or any time the main switch is on?

thanks for the reply. i looked on fuse cover, it's fuse#19 IGN CRUISE not alt. sorry. last time it blew cruise switch was on but cruise not ingaged. during tear down i found two wires burned from cruise on "not set or resume" all the way to where it plugs into the main harness. i just plugged in a brand new switch and the bike cranks and runs. i know i repaired the symptom but would to find the cause.would appreciate any ideas.

You are going to be looking for a short in the black/yellow wire somewhere from where the switch connects at the main harness to the cruise/reverse module or through the front brake, throttle switch and rear brake switch which is where I would look first because of your statement that it happens when on the highway because the throttle switch is closed when the throttle is opened and power goes from it to the rear brake switch and back to the cruise module. (brown/red and green/white wires).
