I just put a clutch factory clutch in my 1100 wing

Put the cover on

filled with oil

put the cable on

Backed the bike off the lift

Jumped it off (I have not been riding this year)

Pulled the clutch in

Put it in gear

And nothing

The bike will not move in gear with the clutch out :X

Worst part is the bike did not need a clutch in the 1st place

I guess you get to reverse the process and find out what went wrong.

Hey SC, I bought a bike off a guy that had the same problem. He let his son do the clutch and then he was so mad at it he let me have it for $250. Inside the cover where that lever pivots has to be right on that ball. If not, it won't happen. He wasn't too happy when he saw me two days later going by him at 70 MPH. I may burn in Hell, but I'll be smiling.

My lever is moving fine

Hind sight is 20/20

Last night I put fork seals in and had the clutch in place before I quit for the night

Today I went out put the nut holder in place and closed it up

I have the feeling I did not tighten the center nut with the splines lined up last night

The whole unit must be free wheeling justoff the splines

Is there enough room for this to happen?

There is another thing, my paper maual calls for 6.1 oz of fluid for each fork?

I remember 8 to 10 oz for the average Honda fork, do I need to toss my book :X

You might want to chect the gears in your final drive. I had a Honda dealer tell me I needed a clutch and after they put it in I found out the old clutch was fine. The final drive gears were stripped.

My lever was moving fine too, but it was not depressing that ball end thing in the center of the clutch basket. I'm not at home and don't have my manual available.

80 and 81 models take 7.4 oz oz of oil in the forks, 82-83 9.1 oz.

So with your bike in gear and the clutch in the bike moved on you like the clutch was out?

I think johnnynogood is probably right. The rod out of the socket and the cover pushing on it releasing the clutch. If the cover would not seat all the way until you tightened the bolts is a good clue.

Yup

The half cut shaft was not in the hole

I guess being out of work 8 months has made me stupid-er :gunhead:

Don't beat yourself up. Stupid would be quitting or not finding it at all. But I do know that feeling ya get when you see it and wonder what the hell, and why didn't I notice that. It's just human nature.

The worst part is I worked it back and forth but never took it out to look at it :?

I have been sitting on my butt unemployed dealing with family crap almost a year and I’m so distracted by phone calls and crap I try to do the work at night when I will not be bothered but I'm still distracted

Funny how I'm out of work but have no time for anything, I need a job so I can relax a little bit

Thanks :waving:
