1100 Ignition module

I have driven my 1100 all over the US and it has never failed. I carry enough tools to make most repairs while away from home. There is one part that I don't hear much about and that I would hate to have fail. The ignition unit behind the engine. Has anyone had this unit fail? I have a spare that I could carry, but I don't like to carry more than necessary and would hate to perform this repair in a parking lot.

Thank you,
John

Never had any problems with 1100 ignition module - next trip how about leaving the spare packaged and ready to FedEx wherever you may be?

I've had coil/ignitor troubles but never to the point the bike quit running. Wet weather conditions would act up but limped home okay.

Thank you all for your replies. I have never heard of a failure either. I have over 100,000 miles on mine and was wondering how long these modules last. Forever maybe. My bike has a feature that is not available on new machines.....It's paid for, so I will keep on riding.

Thank you,
John
