1200 c.c. GoldWing - is it reliable?

I'm a new member. I'm looking at buying a 1984 Wing, 1200 c.c. A friend says the 1200 is probably the worst built GoldWing. Can anyone comment on that for me? It's in great shape - 77,000 km (48,000 miles). Has a trailer also. Can anyone comment on the 1200 Wing form a mechanical point of view? thanks.

Hey MoneyGuy:waving:, Let go some Money and get it, you will never regret it, just put on a DC or EC electrical harness and get on with it...Welcome to the forum.

In that case I might go for a new GL1800.:)

Can anyone tell me the price of that in Cdn dollars? I'd love it but don't want 25K tied up in a bike.

Hi,

Just new to this great website. After a 30 year lay off bought an 85 1200 I in 2001. New stator installed before I puchsed it. Have driven it to Regina and back. No bike problems but my butt complained ....:D

My bike is basic.....I want to put a stereo system in. Your recommendations plse.

Thanks, Flyboy:cooldj:
Hi Flyboy:waving:Welcome to the Forum, If you have a stock seat that should be the first thing to replace {{Wedgie Special}}, I do not know about a stereo, other members will fill you in.

Hey Dean Can you give me an price on the DC or EC harness. Does it help electrical problems? Mine gives me 12 volts when I pull the head light and stop light fuse it goes up to 14 volts. 1987 Asp. Thanks a lotttttttttt.

Alski
Hey Alski, The EC is $50 and the DC is $25. Some like one some like the other, I have the DC and I like it. Search on this forum for DC Harness or EC haness for info.

here are the sites for each.

190,000 on my 85 aspy (2 stators) now hard wired and ec harness.
Since installing the Harness it seems to fire immediately. Could be my imagination but thats what it feels like.
tricky, It is not your imagination, after installing the dc harness my bike starts instantly, runs better too.
