Are they the same. I have gel battery on my 1500 and have just bought an 1800. Not picked it up yet hence the question

They are the same, on opposite sides of the bike but the terminals are still the same.

Dave are you sure they are the same? Seems to me the 1800 is narrower. Like 6 inches vs 8 inches.

Thats confusing. I bought a glass mat battery recently for my 1500. Would like to take it off and put it on the new 1800 when it arrives. So i need to know if it is a straight swap? Otherwise I will leave it on the bike when the dealer picks it up. But it was expensive so would like to keep it.

Just went through the same thing.I pulled the side cover on the 18 and the physical size difference looked pretty obvious,so my AGM went to a new home with the 15.Hope I didn't screw up.Loved the AGM.Wound the 15 over like the plugs were out.

By gosh you are right. The (1500) Y50 is 1 1/4" longer, 1/8" thicker and 1/4" taller than the YTX20 (1800).

If you look at the part number for the brand of battery you have in your 1500 and look up the part number for the 1800, that will tell you if they are the same or not.
