I went in and replaced the cruise air filter. Used a regular lawnmower sytle one cut to size. Worked great. (1994 GL1500A) As long as I had all the tupperware off I thought I'd nose around and check everything else out I could. I noticed that there is a grease fitting that appears to be coming off the back of the alternator. What is that and should I be greasing it on a regular basis?

No. If you are looking at what I think you are that is the clutch bleeder nipple.

Yeah.........I agree! Likely the clutch bleeder. You might consider changing THAT fluid now that you have located it. I recently did after installing a Speed Bleeder and was just so easy that there is no reason not to do it on a reasonably frequent basis like your brake fluid.
