1500 choke cable

Another problem with the 1500, probably the cause of all my other problems. Moving the choke cable without touching the choke lever causes the RPM to fluxuate. Back when the bike was running well I always had to add some choke to start the bike, now it starts without any choke and when I add choke the RPM does not stablize. Anyone seen this? Getting the skins off use to be a chore but I've become very good at it after numerous attempts to troubleshoot the problem. With the skins off is it easy to replace the cable?

hi sounds like the cable is snaged and your choke it in the on position slightly you only need to remove the air filter to get to the linkage the po may have changed the filter and clamped the cable there should be about 1/8in free play in the lever with out pulling the choke its self

Flyer, I'm attaching a photo to show where the choke cable connects. Looking down on the carbs, ( air box removed ) there is a rectanular window cut out and you can see the choke cable. It is held in by 1 phillips head screw which you can get at with a short screw driver.
The real b--tch is getting the airbox back on. The crankcase tube is tough to get on. I had good sucess with a pair of those Real Real long needle nose craftsman pliers( about 8"' ) .
Cover the venturies when your working so as not to drop things in there.
