This is more about advice really. I have a 1989 1500. What I would like to know is is it possible to fit an inline switch to the headlight. :?:?:?
Mine is a US model so they are on permanently. I dont want to ride without it on, it is more for light parades and maintainance purposes as it either runs the battery flat or I choke to death in the garage with the engine running:dude::dude::dude:
Someone suggested that I just pull the fuse but I would prefer to fit a switch. So if any of you electrical wiz kids can help it would be much appreciated.
Thanks for the info. I have looked at the link and it is just what I am looking for. However, with the postage at $69 to the UK!!!!! I think I might have to have a re think
Chris
If you are handy with electricity, it shouldn't be much of an issue. Just a simple "Bosch" style relay. 5 wires, use the normally closed wire in your headlight ground wire. If it fails the light will still work.Run the headlight ground in on # 30. out to the headlight from # 87a. # 85 should go to ground #86 to ignition or accessory power. You will be able to add the switch in either of the 86 or 85 circuits depending on which is more convenient. Should be cheap to do the relays can be had here for as cheap as 2 or 3 bucks
Sorry for delay in replying to Big Port Jimmy 6 but had a lot going on.
Done what you suggested and it works a treat. Probably just as good as the real thing and at a fraction of the cost. Once again a BIG THANKS!!!!!!!
