I like to head off problems before they become large unexpected ones with regard to the bike. To this end every once in a while will grab the fork tube above the slider checking for oil from a bad seal.

After this years maiden voyage came home and sure enough there was oil on the right tube. Wiped it down rode around the block hard on the front end and more oil appeared.

After some searching some guys have cured this problem using 35mm film negative as a wiper pushed between seal and tube so I tried it. It took four attempts at cleaning around the seal with a road test each time afterwards before the oil has stopped weeping by the seal. Just came back from a longer ride and still nothing.:bow:This is not my preferred time of year for that job.:action:

Next winter I was planning to do the head bearings and will now freshen up the fork tubes also at that time. :)

Well done. Hopefully that fix will last the riding season for you.
