trying to take off tripple tree on a 1991 1500. there is a wire running down the center of it, through the steering stem nut. at the bottom there is 3 phillips screws.

took those out and loostened, the steering stem nut but still can not get wire out.

what am i missing? thank you,

Unsnap the wire from in front of the triple tree, squeeze the plastic together and pull it out of the ring,then push the whole wiring loom down far enough through the stem till you get to the coupler. Disconnect and walla. The coupler is in the middle of the tree, you need slack to send enough wire down to get to it.

I forgot to mention, the rubber cap on top. You need to move (slide) this cap away from the stem to give yourself at least 4" of wire showing. This is so you can push the right amount of wire down the stem.
