1500 Water Pump Impeller Question

408 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  newday777
AT THE END OF LAST SUMMER RIDING SEASON I NOTICED MY TEMP STARTED TO CLIMB ABOVE THE 1/4 MARK WHERE IT ALWAYS SEEM TO RUN BEFORE WHEN AT A FEW RED LIGHTS OR IN THE DRIVEWAY SETTING. Never got much above 1/2 and the fans would come on , run about 30 seconds and cycle off for less than one minute and come back on. I would think this was normal except it started all at once. Wondering if the impellers in the pump are getting worn. Any help out there? Thx

It's not too clear to me what you are saying your temp is doing. If you mean while sitting at a red light or in stop and go traffic that your temp gauge climbs to 1/2 scale or more then the fans come on until it cools down some then that is how mine has always worked. Normally my gauge runs about 1/4 way on the scale.
Have you checked the antifreeze in radiator ?
