Where can I find the best source for a water pump for my 89 1500? If one is less expensive but just as good, I'm for that. Is there a rebuild kit to replace the bearings or do I have to buy the whole assembly?

I think you have to buy the whole pump. Saber Cycles have them (OEM too) for $235 plus shipping. Might be cheaper than buying from Mother Honda, although Saber are prickly to deal with.
Sabre is not thought of too well around here.

First off the pump pictured is not for an 88.

Second is their disclaimer. Any spray product will void their warranty.

So if I use a little silicone spray to aid installation on O ring and hose connections it will ruin their pump and void warranty. No thank you, I can see trouble blowing in the wind.

I have never in my life seen a disclaimer like that. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

Claim DENIED for any and all reasons.
