1800 bank angle sensor

I was talking today to a guy that recently purchased a 2005 1800. He was towing a trailer at lake tahoe and ran out of road. He was on a steep uphill going slow trying to make a u turn to come back down. He said he put his left foot down but the road was inclined and his foot slipped and he fell over on the left side. He said it kept running. Unfortunately his instincts told him to pick it up instead of shutting it off not realizing the bike was in gear. I think you know the rest of the story. Just curious if the bank angle sensor could be faulty or was there a recal on the 1800l or is it adjustable. Thanks JB
