Hi all, new member from Belgium. Like the message board because people help eachother any way they can :)
We are about 50 years old and just bought a 2007 black GL1800A deluxe with ABS, Airbag and GPS, European model with 3000 miles. I searched about every Goldwing forum on the net about 2 annoyances; first is the alternator humming when warm (i guess i have to live with that) but it seems it is louder now since I changed the oil to 10W40. To be sure I changed the oil since I don't have a clue if it was changed since 2007. Some people say they use 20W50 which is thicker to also have a less loud shifting click but a friend of me said thicker oil would be bad after time since the channels in the engine are made for thinner oil. So I don't know what to do about that.

But the main reason I answered this post is because my wife noticed me she heard 5 beeps every 3 to 5 minutes (patern) trough the intercom while playing the DMC MP3 player which is connected to the CD function. When switching to FM (U) the beeps are gone so it's only with the CD function. We don't have a CB installed. Since we have EXACTLY the same issue as Wexy there must be something causing this and this has to be a warning of some kind. Now she noticed me I hear it also and it's getting annoying despite the fact it is not that loud. But you know, once you notice something... ;) The BEEP function for the interface is of, AVC and AMB is on. It is very strange we only got this with the CD, or could it be something coming from the attached DMC MP3 player?
Thanks in advance for any help on this :) Regards, Pierre

Hmmm, could this be the issue instead of the battery bug?
I also have the radio functions instead of the CB functions...

"Over here in UK the controls on the left handlebar that are used for the CB are for radio functions...
Well, one of them is for receiving 'traffic alerts' which can break through the normal broadcast. If however you drop out from the radio station that the signal is coming from then guess what? It gives 5 beeps!"
