1800 rearview mirrors

I found out accidently that my mirror would swivel when bumped. How much swivel is allowed? Is any maintenance required. The rubber gasket was dislodged but I could see how it is attached. Maybe no problems, just wanted to know more about the mirrors.:?

There is a spring on the swivel point, you can push the mirror forward or back until it won't go any further. They just stop at that point and that's your lot.
