The stator problems were not a big problem untill the 1200s came out and had some problems that were solveable. I don't recall anyone having really any problems with the stators on 1000s, other than someone has mentioned that one of the wiring connector blocks coming from the stator was bad for connection problems, but that is common to all the 4 cylinder wings. This problem could be fixed by cutting out the block and solder the connectors together.
