Does anybody know what that small guage wire that runs between the block and the timing belt housing on the right side is for?

I just noticed mine has missing insulation and needs to be replaces as the wire is exposed a bit.

It got too dark outside to trace its function.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks,I appreciate your fast response.
Maybe my neutral light will be less sensitive and actually come on 100% of the time after i repace that wire
And yes it was black once upon a time.

I don't think that replacing the wire will make it work all the time. The problem is in the switch and the buildup of crud on the contact. One "great" thing about it if you decide to replace it is that you have to jack up the whole engine or bend the hell out of the frame in order to get it out.

There's a way to wake up the contact but it's risky. It didn't work for me since my switch was pass the repair point but it might work for you. Here's the info:

Hope it works for you.
