Ibought a 1979 gl1000 back in July and have been working on different sections of it until now, I just got it on the road a couple days agorodeit around the block several times to test it outafter I got it back in the garage and turned it off, I turned it back on and tried to start it but lights went out and it acted like battery was dead, so I turned it back off the next day I went out and it cranked right over and started, so I wonder if some part of the wiring or some part of the starting system is getting hot and opening up or could it even be the starter.

:waving:Welcome and Hello. Sad to hear after all your work that another problem pops up . I would check the "dog bone " fuse . located next to the battery . It is just a flat piece of lead fuse . They sometimes get a crack in them and can open up and reclose at will it seems . I hope it is something as simple as that for you . If you need more ideas , post in the tech forum . Not everyone checks in here at the welcome station . Visit often and enjoy the forums .
