I have a 1981 GL1100 that won't start after it is warmed up. After it is warm it turns over very hard and slow like the battery is dead. I have replaced the battery, starter, the starter cable from the solenoid, and the cable from the battery to the solenoid.
The system is charging at 14.3 volts. The battery is at 12.8 volts static test.
Could there be a timing issue?
Thanks,
BMS

Was the starter that replace with NEW?

That is a classic symptom of a dirty starter that needs to be cleaned. http://www.goldwingfacts.com/forums...9376-82-gl1100-aspencade-starter-refresh.html

Also, the solenoid can cause these issues by not letting enough current to flow to the starter to allow the starter to turn over and compress a hot engine. The solenoid can test fine when not under a load.

You may want to try replacing your solenoid.

The starter is a new HO one from Ricks.
I will try the solenoid.
Thanks,
