OK -- Here we go....

1981 GL1100I

Running down road temperature stays at normal.

Get into town and traffic on a hot day the Temperature goes 3/4 of temp. gage and the fan does not come on.

Is my fan not working? I have read several messages that state that the fan does not come on until it get's really hot. Is 3/4 of the gage exceptable?

If my fan is not working how do I check it to find out it is not working?

Could it be the Temp. sensor and if it is how do I check that and where is it located?

I have a multi meter.

Thanks

Yes, it should be on at the 3/4 mark.

Have you downloaded or have a service manual yet? It will be a tremendous amount of help on diagnosing the fan issue.

No Sam I do not have a manual. Where can I download it at. I just got the bike about 6 weeks ago and had to rebuild the rear caliper, the starter has gone out on me and I am waiting on brushes from my local Honda dealer and now this. Let me tell you I love my Gold Wing....... When she is running :)
