When advancing the throttle past half travel, engine boggs down. When I let up a little, the engine begins to respond. I've synched carbs and thought I did the floats correctly. Almost seems it's getting too much fuel.

Have you replaced the fuel filter? Napa #3011 @$5
Have you measured the fuel in each bowl?
What is the history of this bike? Has it run correctly for you recently?

When our 83 did that, accelerator pump gasket on carbs was torn...replaced that and cleaned carbs, problem solved...hope this helps!!
