So I have a 1982 GL1100 Interstate I picked up over the winter. The motor is finally back together, but when I went to check out the rear brake situation I found the PO had snapped off the bleeder screw. Attempts to remove the sheared bolt proved futile. I had read somewhere that the rear calipers were the same all the way to the 1987 model, but apparently that was incorrect. The rear caliper I received has a 32 on it, where my original unit had a 30 on the side. I also noticed that the new caliper extends further into the wheel than my previous unit. Even tho the caliper mounting bolts line up, it doesn't seem like the caliper will close correctly on both sides. Does anyone have experience on using a newer rear caliper (1984 I think) on an older bike (1982)? Should I just junk this thing and try to find the correct one from 1982? Thanks...
