hi. just wondering will a 1983 gl1100 asp motor , work with my 1980 gl1100

standard goldwing, the asp has a digital dash , which my standard doesn't

the rpm gage is different mine fit's by the fuel pump. the asp has digital.

also the netural switch is different, mine fit's on the side of the motor at the right sitting on the bike.

i am guessing the asp is digital has well.

the housing is there for the netural switch, wondering if they are pop plug's :stumped:

so i can put my netural switch there. thank's for all the help in the past.

happy holiday's!

p.s. your help is greatly appricated

Yup it sure will. They are the same motor. Ya may need to swap a few other parts around as well. But it's all interchangeable.

i think if you use the 82 aspy and interstate neutral switch you should be ok. jb

the switch for the netural was moved to the front trans/water pump houseing cover , its inside there. a wire should be coming up between the head and the cam cover on the right side .

One thing everyone's overlooking here is the gear indicator. The Aspencade will tell you what gear you're in, the other '83 models won't. It's part of the neutral switch.

The '83 Aspencade has a 6 wire neutral / gear position switch, the Standard and Interstate has a 2 wire neutral position switch only.

You'll have to meter out which 2 wires shows the neutral position. As to their exact location, I am not sure. It's late and past my bedtime! I actually have to work tomorrow...
