An engine machine shop could probably sleeve it, and might know where to get a sleeve. Not sure if you can mate an 84 case to another year because an 84 is a little different from other 1200s. But probably not in any case because the engine halves are machined as a pair.

If the 85 is in excellent shape I would use it. The only thing to figure out is if you want to use the PGs on the front of the 85 or change the rear case and use the 84s.

And are the pistons, crankshaft, cam etc interchangeable on the 85 and 86? Thanks again for everything! You advice is invaluable.
