1984 GOLDWING

replaced stater with a new aftermarket and then had the old one rebuilt & it still whins & wont kick in,it try from time to time.Have used battery charger while trying to start it

by whins, you mean it will spin free not cranking the engine?
did you replaced the whole starter or you used the old gearbox?

Hi Onlya Sshop,

If you go to start you bike and it seems that the starter is whizzing away but not engaging, you may have a very sticky and gummed up starter clutch.

When last was your oil changed? You may want to add some MMO or Seafoam to you oil, run it a few 100 miles and then change you oil. That will help free up your starter clutch, if that is the problem.
