I am looking for some help....my bike just "quits" sometimes... leave it for a while and it starts again

I have no spark or power to the fuel pump...everything else electrical seems to work. I think it needs a new ignitor box... thats the last thing to replace... new coils, ignition switch, kill switch in now... any one know where esle to look and where I might get a new ignitor box part # 30400-MG9-741

Probably the Pulse generators.
They will work fine while cool but then quit after they get warm, let the bike cool a while then you go through the routine again.

The 84 PG's are situated at the rear of the engine.
After 84 they sensibly moved them to the front, but it still requires removal of the rad.

Never done it, but it can be downloaded from this site. I still see non-oem manuals at shops and on e-bay.

Pulse generators are also my shoot, yours is 85, so those are in front of the engine and ""easy"" to access.. while you're there, you should change the timing belts if you dont know when was the last time those were done.

Hello Roc, I am in Calgary also. I think I have the shop manual for your bike at home. If I do you can have it.

Good morning Roc. I had the same thing happen to me last year on a trip down the Oregon coast with an 85 Interstate I owned. To make a long story short I got it back to Maple Ridge B.C. and found some used pulse generators so I could get back to Red Deer. It isn't too bad of job to change them. If Peter doesn't have a manual check the Motorcylce accessory center: 101,5701-17ave SE Calgary. Ph: 403-248-0988. I picked a manual up for my 85 there but gave it away with the bike when I sold it last fall. They carry a good selection of Goldwing accessories.

If I can be of assistance give me a PM

Good luck.
