1985 GL1200 Rough Idle (Full Choke)

I just recently purchased a GL1200 which had been in storage for some time, Upon
starting the cycle under full choke it was determined that it immediately stalls upon a
slight cracking of the throttle. Any thoughts as to what might cause this condition would be appreciated. It will run continuously while idling with a full choke. Thanks, Rich

Sounds like gummed up carbs to me. I would empty the tank, empty the float bowls, and run something along the lines of Seafoam or MMO through it to see if that might help. Just an idea, not sure that this would be your problem though.

It does sound like gummed/varnished carbs. As plsk... says, I'd get as much old gas out of the tank as possible, then add some fresh fuel and "SEA FOAM" to see if it starts to clear-up. (simple things 1st)

Your profile mentions a 1500, so you're already aware of Honda's cold bloodedness. Download a manual for your bike from the REF/FAQ section of the forum. Then if needed you can tackle the fuel filter/carbs as needed.

You might also want to check the air filter/housing, and air horn for any mice nests or other blockage. And a belated welcome to the forum... :gunhead:
