1989 GL 1500 runs for a minute when cold, then dies

Hello, I have a few questions struggling with a GL 1500 that I picked up last summer by kid. Been sitting for a while needed a fuel pump so that has been replaced and is new . After I replace the fuel pump last fall, the motorcycle ran great for a little while then started acting up. The issue seems to come and go from time to time but very frequently the motorcycle will start when cold, but only run for about a minute or two. Then it will not start back up. It seems to be cutting out the spark cause I can smell fuel also check for spark at spark plug and did not have any. I have tried to override the tip sensor when I did that the bike wouldn’t turn over at all. Also, strangely enough, there doesn’t seem to always be pressure in the gas tank when you release the the cap. Also once in a while after it doesn’t start if I connect the battery charger to it and give it some extra juice sometimes it will start from everything I’ve read at this point I’m leaning towards, possibly the pulse coils. The alternator seems to vary from 13 to 14 V depending on the rpm range. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

My first thought would be dying battery, replace with a good, fully charged one and try. Pulse coils have a resistance measurement quoted in the manual and from memory the block connector is on rh sjde in front of knee when sat on it but could well be wrong.

How does inside of gas tank look? Any rust or corrsion? Have you replaced fuel filter yet? Vacuum fuel shut of valve could be bad also.

Turn on the cruise control and see if the light goes off when it dies.
I'm guessing you have a few problems that overlap and make troubleshooting difficult. First up a new battery if you haven't done so. The 1500 basically won't start with anything other than a tip top battery. (over 11 volts while cranking) The starter will crank the engine over briskly, but you won't have spark. You can often get it to start by spinning the starter then let go of the button and it will start as it spins down. That it will sometimes start only when a charger is on it, confirms the battery is marginal.
Once that is sorted, then look into the fuel issue. Without fuel it will only run on what is in the carb bowls, then die.

I don’t believe it’s a fuel issue because you can smell fuel and spark seems to be disappearing unfortunately

this sounds promising I will check thanks

Inside of the tank looks clean fuel filter was replaced when the fuel pump was done

So here’s the thing started with a brand new battery, but it was a cheaper one and I did think it could still be the battery issue move that battery to a different Goldwing no problem with it. Kind of wondering if it could be an issue with the alternator itself. The motorcycles at my dads place so I will check this weekend and come up with some more answers. Thanks for all the help fellas I will check back in soon

And why would it start at first without the charger on it but the charger seems to help after it has stalled?
If the alternator is charging at least 13 volts at idle that's not the problem. It's most likely the PGs, the kill switch or the bank angle sensor. If the cruise light stays on I would bet on the PGs.

Are you using new Honda spark plugs properly gapped?
If there is no spark what's it matter?
Not knowing the condition of the spark plugs, I stand by my reply.

I pulled one spark plug which looked fine the fires on all six then none at all
Whilst not impossible it would be unusual for all plugs to fail together, what you are describing suggests battery, wiring or pulse coil failure
