Don't worry about your 96…. the recall is for the 88-93 models. Your 96 has already been updated at the factory.
Ya know…. there are tricks and short cuts all through the motorcycle world. Some people have talked about it... but shorting the BAS is one thing I don't think is a good idea. It's there to keep the engine from over revving if the bike is laid down. I think that is a good idea. To me shorting the function of the BAS is sort of like short circuiting an artificial heart. The potential outcome could be bad.
