Just returned from 5000 mile trip to yellowstone. Now bike won't stop running with key pulled out. Would stop running with kill switch only. Did some tinkering so bike stops running, but found problem thru high/low beam switch. Also found short between dark blue and light blue wires going to control meter. Only one headlight works (high beam). Someone mentioned wire harness to control meter could be problem. Any thoughts of what the problem could be. Also, what could be the problem with speakers not working.

The entire problem seems to run through the left handlebar switch assembly. In case of a headlight system failure the left high beam is always on. Could be a short in the harness is feeding back power to the EFI main relay leaving it on. The mute button being also on the left handlebar would make me suspicious that the speaker problem also is in that harness.
The 01-05 electrical manual is hard to follow so it may take a while to sort this out, unless you get lucky.

Is it the engine that keeps running, or the starter motor? Did you rule out a bad ignition switch?
