Cruise often will not engage and then when it does it often shuts off for no apparent reason.

I have fussed wsith clutch lever and front and rear brake levers thinkimg maybe brake interlock is on but have not been able to correlate cruise non-funtion with anything particular.

Also, went over several miles of bumpy interstatre with cruise engaged so bumps do not seem to be the cause of it shutting off.

looking for troubleshooting suggestions.

When it shuts off, is the "Cruise On" light still on?
One of my riding buddies had a similar issue with his 01 and the cruise would shut off and the light would go out. His cruise on/off switch was bad, apparently not unusual according to the dealer who replaced it for him.

Did you replace the pivot bushings in the levers?

Like Ben said. I have seen a lot of the chrome lever cause a lot of problems(Cruise and brake light issues). If both levers are stock. I would test the front brake light switch. It it a double switch. I think cruise is the wide blade connectors. NOT SURE. Check both. ONE should be NO the other NC. That would be the first place to check if it was mine.

thx. everyone. I figured it was in the clutch or brake lever interlocks.
