It's hard to tell from the pictures but it is either the power supply for the optional on board lasers or the amplifier for the radio system.
2008 GL1800 - What is this?

Was replacing the back tire on the 1800 and since I have no Navigator, the mechanic expected to find an empty cavity above the tire. Instead, he found this. It has three heavy duty wires that come into the top. Does anyone know what it is?
