The Second Annual Eastern Meet & Greet is going to be held in Front Royal VA on Aug 10-13. The small group campsite has already been reserved and paid for and is located at Elizabeth Furnace Campground. Info on how to get there:

Look for it on Google maps. I think the group site doesn’t have running water for the campers, but I will have two 5 gallon jugs of water that will be refilled when needed. The main camp site is just down the road and has water as well as hot showers available. I will also be bringing some firewood for us to have a camp fire to sit around, but bring your own if you want. (I don’t know how much my wife will let me bring. LOL)
Hotels range from $41/night to $150+ for bed & breakfasts.
There are many things to do in the area such as hiking, fishing, historic places to visit, caverns to explore, a natural bridge, and let’s not forget, lots of great riding. If you’re lucky, I might bring some of my home made beer for your tasting pleasure. I’m planning on a group ride possibly down sky line drive on Sunday after lunch (entrance fee for a bike for 7 days is $10 if I read the website correctly). Donations are not needed but are welcome and will go directly towards next year’s event. PM me for more info.

For me, it would be to early to decide which weekend would be good for me, but if I had to guess at a time frame, I would say late August, or Any time September. I liked the front Royal location, the way I81 runs it was a quick way for a lot of people from the West, South and Far North to get there. Access to Ski Line drive and Blue Ridge Parkway is great right there also. It's a little more layed back, country setting.

I enjoyed Front Royal and late August seems good.

My problem? If scheduled on the weekend I work, than it really doesn't matter.

If I'm off, I'm in.

I voted Front Royal area and later August.

Front Royal area has everything going for it, with lots of things/roads to see/ride/do close/near by.

This year we got hit with that stubborn,slow moving Low, that plagued me for 2 weeks all along the BRP/Skyline, but that's the way things go some times!No biggie for me. :?

I agree with the late Aug time frame. I can still put some things together for front royal. It's a nice town and not so far from anywhere. There are a lot of things to do in my area, but the problem is that it's not that close to an interstate or hotels. I'll talk with the Honda Dealer in Orange to see if they want to do something up there for us (maybe give some discounts too. :? ). I don't think Front Royal has a shop there, but I could be wrong. The food thing won't be an issue either, but some of the other things that I had in mind I might have some difficulties getting started. Also, as the time goes by, if there's enough people camping I'd like to reserve the group camp site for next year. I'll have to check on that though. My wife and I plan on riding up there in the near future to get some information as well as ride down skyline drive. Let me know if you have any questions or ideas to throw at me.

Well, ....
I did not actually vote yet, thinking a bit though.

NASSIR5 will be in July in AR. and probably a big trip for many folks, so maybe not set the date too close to that.

ES8 is labor day weekend, so maybe not too close to then either since many people travel to AR for that one.

I plan to make both of those next year since that's only 150 miles from home for me.

Now thinking of folks trying to make the most meets, maybe the first or second weekend in August would be a halfway point between NASSIR5 and ES8 maybe?

I'm not sure of anything in earlier part of year though, so maybe before June or July would work well also.

I liked Front Royal, that would be fine with me again, or moving around the area a bit each time could work well also.

ok, so it's looking like late August for the next one. How does Aug 24th through the 27th sound? Oh, and I'm looking into getting the group camp at EF campground for the next one. They have 2 group sites, one thats for 25 campers, and the other is for 50. I think that we will be fine with the smaller one. Also, I talked with the manager/owner of Fredericksburg Motor Sports which is the local Honda dealer here and they are thinking about coming out for it. I'm going to call around for other things and see what I can figure out.

Gee, how nice to throw me a birthday party, Aug. 24th LOL

Anyway it kinda sounds ok, but it may be a conflict for folks that may plan to do ES8 in AR. Labor Day, the next weekend.

I think I'd only be able to do one or the other myself.

If I could maybe make a suggestion, maybe stay at least two weeks away from other event if we could?

For 2012 we have NASSIR5 in Eureka Springs, AR in July, not sure what dates. For many that will be the main priority for the year. So need to be a little off from that since it's in almost dead center of USA and maybe most folks want to make NASSIR if at all possible!
Since NASSIR5 will be opnly 150 miles from my home I'll make ot for sure unless I am dead or stuck in a wheel chair. BUMMER it's only 150 miles from home and no great ride to get to it. At least I WILL make it though, unlike this year I planned for so much and did not make.

ES8 is like same place as Nassir, but then so many make it each year and that is Labor day, first weekend of Sept, so I think too close to that maybe.

I'm thinking if in August maybe first weekend, maybe second to be right in middle of the other 2 main events.

OR before July, and avoid the rush LOL

With relatives in WV, OH myself, if all events fell just right I could maybe make each event and time between before or after to visit elsewhere in area on the way. If jumping from NASSIR in July to Front royal in Aug 24th, to ES8 Sept 1st or so, I think for some of us it's pushing us a bit hard to make all 3, and then there are a couple others maybe too.

Could move it to Mid September as well. I know here in NC it gets a little warm in August to go camping......

There again, could do it at the end of April first part of May. Foliage is pretty in the spring of the year out this way.

That's one of the options that I offered as well. I think it would be nice to kick off the riding season with it, but then again, It would be nice to have it later too. Right now the survey says that mid/late August is where people want it. Any other thoughts guys?

I should also Clarify... even though it's hot "Here" in August, 275 north of here at a much higher elevation would be at least 10 to 15 degrees cooler, so around mid to high 70's low 80's during the day perhaps? Not to bad.

I know it was cold and rained this year, but it is usually a dry time of year.

Spring time there is a way better chance of rain, on average.

I think that is one reason why people pick the fall.

Remember those of the great white north probably could have snow in early spring.

Well, in mid/late August, from what I understand, it's usually rainy and fairly warm here so 80-90 ish. At least that's what it was like this year. It still wasn't that bad though.

So I would like to narrow it down for dates so if it were to be in the beginning of the riding season it would be May 18 -21. To be a little more in between the big events going on elsewhere, August 10th-13th. The average temps for that time in May are mid to low 70's for the high and mid - low 50's for the low. August average temps are mid 80's to mid 60's.

I would say just pick a date and then ask what people think and if they can possibly attend.

I would not over plan because nothing planned in advance ever works out the way you want.

Just too many variables in people's lives to be able to plan too far ahead.:waving:
