Check your cable and operating levers for free movement. You have problems with slipping, AND not disengaging. Once you are sure there is no restriction on the outside, you may need to remove the clutch assy and check for binding plates/discs.
+1...cable first. GL1000's are notorious for clutch cable issues. If that isn't it sure sounds like a clutch issue. In nearly every case tran or driveshaft issues are accompanied by considerable mechanical noise.
