What could be causing the voltage to run between 15-17 most of the time. I had a local dealer check it and it was 17 at the time of test.

Thanks for the reply. The battery finally fried yesterday. Guess the smart thing to do would be to replace the voltage regulator before I buy another battery and cook it also.

Most likely the regulator. However bad, corroded or loose electrical connectors and grounds can also cause this problem. Check thevoltage directly out of the regulator (not at the battery) before you buy a new one. The voltage at output should be about 14.7 volts. If voltage is correct there then problem lies elsewhere.
