Please help. I just replaced the throttle cables on my 81 gl 1100 Interstate. Now when i start the bike it is idling at around 7000 rpm. Any suggestions, i am at a loss.

Welcome aboard psfeemster. The cables are too tight, either by wrong adjustment or more likely routed the wrong way and being pulled on.

Thank you, i have asked the hubby if this could be the problem... he thinks its in the carbs. if the push and pull cables are reversed could that possibly be the cause?

Welcome to this great forum. I do not know for sure, however, if backwards, I am thinking giving throttle should back off fuel if so. ??

I don't believe they can be reversed. As GWNorman said check to see they are routed properly and adjust the pull cable so that there is the slightest bit of slack in the grip twist while the throttle is setting on the idle adjust screw.
