At the factory Honda welded on of the swingarms off center, so a spacer was made to go between the caliper and the swingarm.

:?My '83 has a spacer there. I think the swing arm is symetrical in design and function. I think the spacer just takes up...er...the space.

I've been around here for awhile and don't recall anything about a recall. But, that doesn't mean it didn't happen.

yes there is a spacer supposed to be there: SPACER, RR.
42312-463-000 I don't know about it being a recall, but it shows on all the parts diagrams. My current bike and my other 2 parts bikes also have one at the same spot. What is the question?

Some of the early GL1100s had the swingarm legs welded in the wrong place, so the back wheel was on the wrong track to the front one. Hondas fix was to add a different spacer to move the wheel over.

I don't know what 81GW is asking, other than if we know about it.
