Good afternoon Gents, I’m rebuilding a 82’ interstate that starts and runs. I’m currently cleaning the carbs and in the process of removing the fairings to open up her Beauty. The question here is what do you guys do with your Brake rotors. The fronts have valleys the rear feels smooth. Rear brake master cylinder was dry the front has some fluid in it. My understanding is the bike sat for 10 years since last it ran. Anyway. I wanted to know what do you do with your brake rotors when you know they are in need of replacement. Do you get it resurfaced or get new ones and where would I get new ones?
Also the bike has 63k original miles on it I also changed the timing belts.

thank you

I'm doing an 81 naked wing. I replaced my front rotors. However my old ones measured within specs. You will need to rebuild front master cylinder if it can be rebuilt. Rear master cylinder is usually a problem as well.I will send you my old rotors if you pay for shipping. They are usable I.Brakecrafters is a good source for brake related parts. Good luck. PM me if you are interested in rotors.

There is not a lot of room for resurfacing. Also because of composition they typically need to be ground rather than turned. So, most times you just replace them.

You might want to inspect the cylinder bore before you bother to order any parts. Unlike calipers where the bore doesn't have to be perfect, only the pistons, a master cylinder bore can't have any pitting or corrosion damage.

Typically that the problem with front and back master cylinders. You can't tell till you take them apart. My front and back master cylinders were unusable. I had to come up with a way to redo rear. You can find new master setup for the front.
