Hi,

I just completed today the new Sadelman seat install from JC Whitney. I will post a separate thread for that as it was an interesting project that I am sure a lot of you will like to see and hear about.

In the mean time, after having my seat off 100 or more times today, I really would like to know what the **** this part is for. Other that being a complete royal pain in the butt, what is it for?

I am referring to the bolt and bracket "thing" on the left. What could it possible be used for. I am about to toss it! Why can it be like the one on the right...a normal bolt.

It's your seat position adjustment lock. It allows the seat to move to any one of the 3 positions allowed by the seat bracket cut out without using tools. You can certainly replace it with a regular bolt if you wish.

There should be a spring along with the rest of that seat adjuster.

Thanks guys,

That was the rub... there was no spring. I figured that it might have been a type of adjustment but with everything all torqued up on both sides, I never even though of a spring as being missing.

One of many things I will learn today I guess!!

Have an awesome day everyone.

Tim.
