took fuel line off turned fuel on no flow wanted to check for water or dirt.loosen the fuel cap fuel started to flow.should i take cap off and clean.what i was looking for was i had miss like i was fouling out a plug. it would go away when i got on it but it would come back when i slowed down.let it set over night. cool this morning started it up went around a couple of blocks runs fine.going to replace f-fliter air cleaner new.going to replace plugs they still look good. then wait till it gets warm.then go out.and see maybe it was trying to vapor lock.
makes you kinda sick when i get on the old girl and she start to feel bad.maybe with new parts she will feel better.she has never let me down yet.
Yes, I would clean you gas cap. As you can tell, a vacuum is being formed in your tank.
I used to have a sputtering problem near ½ tank and below before I fixed my gas cap. I simply took it off, tapped it with a hammer for a bit. Put in a bunch of WD40 and let it set for awhile (15 – 20 min) and then started tapping it again. I then smacked it a few more times a bit harder on the concrete floor in the downward position (oriented as if it were on the tank).
Problem solved. Not only does it not sputter anymore at ½ tank… The bike overall runs better at about 7/8 of a tank and below.
want to tell everyone i put gas cap into some sea foam let it set for awhile.then taped on garage floor with an old white t shirt.little specks on t shirt.will take it out latter and see if she runs better.raining right now.:waving::waving:
